Description

First of all, the colours (for once), are rather close to the original, so yeah ! Then, the columns are straight, not curved, but my paper has decided that as long as he as not been pressed for several hours, he will not behave properly.
So, now, the description. Here you have Pluto (Hades), waiting on the verge of his domain, for the coming back of Proserpina (Persephone). Of course, his dog is here to comfort him.
The true story behind this image... this is a fanart... a fanart of Pluto's system... In the picture, you have Pluto and all of his satellites presented in one way or another, and it is up to date with the latest approved names (and so i am glad that William Shatner's proposition which made no sense has been rejected, IAU naming commission, my esteem for you is renewed). Because even though Pluto is not a planet (and no matter what people might say, from a dynamical point of view it makes perfect sense), it is a dwarf planet, and has several satellites. The first to have been discovered, Charon, is really big, and is the tiniest one on my drawing, rowing his boat in the right bottom corner. Then, in 2005, two little satellites have been discovered, Nix (yes, no "y", Nyx was already an asteroid) and Hydra, represented here by the night sky, and the Hydra constellation (even though the Hydra of the constellation is NOT the Lernean Hydra, while the satellite is a reference to this creature, whose place was an opening to the Underworld). The latest to have been discovered, in 2011 for P4, 2012 for P5, have been recently named Kerberos (the greek transliteration has been used because the latin name, Cerberus, is already an asteroid) for the three-headeddog preventing the dead from coming bac to Earth, and Styx, the river which marks the boundary of the Underworld and that only Charon's boat may cross.
So yeah, basically, I made a picture which is a reference to astronomy... I should go out more... but I could not, this picture is the result of seven days spent at a symposium and summer school of astronomy.
